How to Keep your Tweets Fresh

Believe it or not regularly updating your tweets will help you drive more traffic to your site. Enthusiastic Twitter users like to follow people who post consistently.  With only 140 characters at a time, it’s easy to fit in a couple of Tweets daily – just setup a schedule for yourself and stick to it!  You can reply to tweets addressed to you at the same time.  This doesn’t mean that you have to stay logged in or spend hours at a time tweeting 10 minutes once or twice a day will get a lot accomplished.

If you have a mobile you can sync it up with your Twitter account and Tweet while away.

Creating an active following takes time.  Consistency is the key here.  As you followers begin to see you as an active member they will join in your conversations, which after all, is one of your main goals.

At first glance, Twitter seems like a mismash of unrelated content, neither here nor there.  But active Twitter users know that to keep followers interested, they need to give useful and helpful content approximately 90% of the time, saving promotional and personal Tweets to around 10%.

Personal tweets can certainly help your followers get to know you.  But, it’s a fine line, and you want to avoid Tweeting too often about unrelated tweets because it might cause you to lose followers. There probably aren’t many business contacts or customers who want to hear what time you went to bed or what you ate for dinner. Cute, compelling and funny stories work best if you want to post personal Tweets.

Take the time to build quality relationships with your followers so you start laying the ground work lifetime customers and clients.  Establishing a good relationship with your followers is essential to take advantage of the considerable flow of traffic passing through Twitter every day.

Here is a little checklist that you can keep handy:

- Let clients, customers, friends and associates know you’re on Twitter.
- Tweet consistently.
- Retweet useful content.
- Reply to any tweets addressed to you.
- Pay attention to your tweet content.
- Limit your personal tweets.
- Strive to build lasting relationships.

Besides being beneficial for your business, Twitter is also entertaining and easy, which is why it’s become so popular.   It’s hard to be successful on Twitter, not because it’s complicated, but because it takes consistent time and effort.  Consistent doesn’t mean it takes a long time though, so jump in, and with a little effort and patience, you will see compelling results in the form of more traffic and conversions.
