People often ask me whether it’s worth it to pay a company for SEO services. I used to say no, but have begun to rethink it. I have never used an SEO company but I think that their services could be worthwhile. If I was going to look into using one, I’d be very wary of anyone who promises specific results, such as first page ranking in Google. However, I think it could be worthwhile to hire someone to do market research for you, explore ideas for content and keywords and work with you on writing better content, crafting meta tags and doing some initial submissions to various search engines.
With that being said, research the companies you are considering very carefully. You really want someone who is going to take the time to understand your business so that they can best help you get better positioning with search engines.
